Virtual Learning

A school community can be connected and thriving even if the physical school building is closed. Remote learning that emphasizes interaction and authentic and differentiated learning opportunities will help students stay connected to teachers and classmates. Developing consistency for remote learning is key as students and their families adapt to unprecedented changes in education and society, in general. Successful, consistent remote learning at the Cathedral Preschool will include:

  • Clearly articulated goals based on the age level

  • Synchronous, developmentally appropriate instruction between 20-30 minutes during an online meeting for each day students attend school

  • Asynchronous instruction that provides flexible opportunities for children to maintain routines from the classroom, while also allowing for new learning

  • At home learning packets and lists for learning materials for each age level

  • Learning options organized on a matrix that that tap into students’ interests, readiness levels, and learning styles while providing families flexibility to choose as many or as few activities as they’d like

  • Teachers using an online platform where parents/students can access work, learning videos, and support and resources, along with an option to submit work products and pictures of students engaging in activities

  • A genuine interest and effort in supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic growth and development
